a message to parents

We believe we're here on earth to glorify God. For us, a great deal of that means we're to make disciples of Jesus Christ. We believe this generation of young people is looking for more than just attending a weekly church service. But in order for them to move further into what God intends them to be, they need help (don't we all?). And, as parents ourselves, we also understand that it can be hard to let go.

If your son or daughter is considering being a part of CDM, then first of all, please take time to listen to them. If God is stirring in your child, usually they'll want to talk about it. Give them a chance to sound out the content of their heart. If they believe God is calling them to be discipled, then that's a reason to rejoice—because Jesus promised to fill thier hunger.

Furthermore, if your son or daughter seeks us to disciple them, then know this: we are standing upon the love, time, and sacrifices you have already made in their life. Yet the wise parent knows that their children can further develop if given the right opportunities.

We're not here to replace you—never could, and we wouldn't even try. Yet we do see our part to serve alongside you to invest in your child's life. We are both humbled and sober as we undertake to strengthen your child's faith and help direct them into a richer adulthood. We both want the very best for them. We join you gladly knowing they want to pursue to love God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Trust is not instant, and must be earned. It requires a lot of time and communication. Distrust can ruin relationships when we neglect to communicate, or jump to conclusions. We welcome the opportunity to talk with you at any time if there arise issues or concerns you may have. So, if that happens, let's talk! We're not afraid of differing views or perspectives. In fact, in Christ, we know that problems or trouble are simply opportunities for growth. "All things work together for good..." So instead of avoiding it, let's gain all we can from it!

We're thankful that the Lord has called and equipped us to build up and strengthen the next generation of disciples for Jesus. And we are grateful for your continued support as your child chooses to know what pleases the Lord, and then obeys Him.

In Christ,

Mark & Kathy Lucas
